Short And Sweet

Sometimes I don’t have a lot to say, but I still have something worth saying.

I’ve noticed there is still a holdover attitude that to be important, educational, or provocative it must be long(winded). Why must meaning be lost in superfluous words? Many times we make our words more eloquent by “taking away” not “adding to”.

We’ve realized this about other things, the idea that less is more growing. We’ve even scrutinized the “bigger is better” attitude concerning food and many have decided bigger isn’t always better.

Does the same apply to content? What if “more” doesn’t equal “better”?  Can we remind ourselves that quality is more important than quantity? We aren’t in school anymore, there is no teacher demanding a certain word or page count (well, maybe your boss does demand this, and if that is the case, maybe your boss should give that demand some thought.)

What is the most effective way you can express yourself to clearly communicate your ideas? Figure that out and you’re golden. Forget what everyone else says (including me!)

Fear

Don’t allow the not-knowing to cause fear.

You don’t have to be afraid of the dark.

Learn to embrace the not-knowing,

Can you see the beauty in this?

When you have faith, when you believe.

There is no room for fear.

There is no anxiety. No more stress.

You are free.

What about death?

Why would you fear something you can’t remember, and know very little about?

For all you “know” it could be the best damn thing to ever happen to you.

Know your self, don’t cut your self off.

You Are Not What You Eat—Part Three

Are we that egotistical that we think we can sustain this gig we’ve got going on earth when we are bent on destroying it?  No one owns this earth. No one owns the land. There is no deed to earth. The natives tried to teach us this lesson, but we refused to listen. We pretend it’s ours to sell or own, we can rape the earth and its inhabitants, but the lesson is only getting costlier as time goes by.

We deny the truth out of our own pride. We are not number one. The earth doesn’t revolve around humans, we are not the center of the universe. We know this scientifically, but our actions betray us showing we still believe that we are number one. If we refuse to coexist, co-operate, and change then we will destroy ourselves.

You Are Not What You Eat—Part Two

If we are not what we eat, then why advocate eating healthy? What is healthy eating? Is it low-fat, low-calorie, organic, local, gmo-free, gluten-free, vegan food?

No, healthy eating is sustainable, loving and compassionate. It is eating consciously, without taking more than you need just because you can.

Food is not what is making  you ”overweight” or unhealthy, it’s your mindset about food that makes you “overweight” or unhealthy.

We’ve gotten it all wrong. The reason foods become harmful to our bodies is because we are eating in states of apathy, shame, guilt, and greed.

Mistakes: Part Two

If you want a fulfilling life, it’s yours to have, but be prepared for a series of mishaps and mess-ups in the process. Take that risk. The universe will open the moment you step out.

I PROMISE you.

Throw yourself out there. Try a different attitude: “teach me” rather than “give me.” With this attitude, learning experiences will hit you full throttle, testing your threshold. You may even be tempted to beg the universe to slow down, it will be exhilarating, almost overwhelming.

If this is what you truly want, then you’ll accept mistakes as inevitable. Mistakes are what get us from “here“ to “there”. Without them, you’ll stay in the same spot for the rest of you life.

Mistakes: Part One

Remember, you learn through mistakes. Nothing is set in stone. You can mend after reflection. Enjoy the learning process.

If you want to learn and grow, you must know the method is through mistakes. There will be many. There is no other way to learn. You can follow someone’s advice, but this is not learning. You can follow “the rules,” but you won’t learn, you won’t excel. You just might make it through, but you’ll go nowhere.

Nothing stops you, but you.

Nothing stops you except for your own fears.
